Purpose of Rotarian Education

Rotarian Education aims to equip members with the knowledge, skills, and resources to:

  • PETS (President-Elect Training Seminar) – prepares incoming club presidents.

  • Grants Management Seminars – required for clubs seeking funding (District or Global).

  • RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute) – multi-level leadership and service training.

  • District Conferences & Assemblies – connect members with updates, inspiration, and strategic goals.

Zone Level (Zones 26 & 27, for example):

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)

Grow as a Leader. Serve with Purpose.

The Rotary Leadership Institute is a multi-part leadership development program (Sessions I, II, III) designed to strengthen Rotary clubs through education and engagement of their members. Whether you're new to Rotary or a longtime member, RLI offers valuable insights into Rotary’s structure, service opportunities, leadership roles, and strategies for club growth.

Participants gain:

  • A deeper understanding of Rotary’s mission and impact

  • Practical leadership and communication skills

  • Tools to increase engagement and inspire innovation within their clubs

RLI is not an official Rotary International program, but it is widely endorsed by districts to support leadership growth and member benefits.

Club Leadership Academy (CLA) - District 5495

Equipping Rotarians for Stronger Clubs and Greater Impact

The Club Leadership Academy (CLA) is an annual, one-day training event hosted by Rotary District 5495, typically held in March. It offers a wide range of interactive workshops and breakout sessions designed to empower Rotarians in current or future leadership roles.

CLA is open to all members, including club officers, committee chairs, and emerging leaders. Topics include:

  • Club administration & planning

  • Membership growth & retention

  • Public image & communications

  • Rotary Foundation grants & giving

  • Youth programs and service initiatives

Southwest PETS (President-Elect Training Seminar)

Why Attend Southwest PETS?

Rotary President-Elect Training Seminars (PETS) are essential events for incoming Rotary Club Presidents to prepare for their year of service. As club presidents-elect prepare to lead and guide their club, PETS provides an incredible opportunity to learn their role and work with others to set goals.

PETS is more than leadership training. It’s an experience – and for many Rotarians, it’s one of the most memorable and inspiring experiences of their Rotary careers! You’ll have the opportunity to meet Rotary International leadership, hear from great speakers and celebrate your district’s efforts to change our world!

Southwest PETS is a partnership of 11 Rotary districts encompassing five states. The first multi-district PETS established in the United States, today it has the distinction of being one of the largest multi-district PETS in the country!

This inspiring and informative seminar exposes Presidents-Elect to the latest trends and techniques in the operation of a Rotary Club. The PETS experience is also a wonderful opportunity for great fellowship and networking with over 600 Presidents-Elect from throughout the Western United States!

State of Arizona Rotary Leadership Academy (RLA):  Districts 5495 and 5500.

The Rotary Leadership Academy (RLA) is a program within Rotary International focused on developing leadership skills for Rotarians, particularly those in leadership roles or with aspirations for expanded leadership. It provides training and resources to enhance Rotarians' ability to effectively serve their clubs, districts, and communities.  Including preperations for Zone or Rotary International roles.

    The RLA aims to strengthen the foundation of Rotary leadership by providing training and development opportunities.
