Roy TuttleRoy A Tuttle, Jr. and the Annual Four Peaks Rotary Golf Tournament

It is golf tournament time in Fountain Hills and one of the longest running and most successful tournaments, the Four Peaks Rotary Golf Tournament, now honors the memory of Roy Tuttle, one of Four Peaks Rotary’s original charter members, who passed away in 2007.

Roy was the essence of Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”. Roy was a Rotarian for 43 years, a Past District Governor of District 7150 (Central New York), and one of the founding members of the Four Peaks Rotary. Roy had perfect weekly meeting attendance for all his 43 years in Rotary. This is amazing when you consider that Roy attended meetings on five continents throughout the world.

Pat and Roy TuttleThere were no projects to large or too small for Roy. Although small in stature himself, he volunteered for the most physically taxing aspects of any project. Roy helped rebuild the homes and lives of some of Hurricane Katrina’s most hard-hit victims during volunteer trips to the Gulf Coast. Roy and his wife Pat also hosted numerous foreign exchange students during their stays in Fountain Hills. Roy believed that there was never a volunteer job too dirty or too messy which he demonstrated by spending many hours helping collect trash during the twice-a-year Fountain Hills Arts Fairs.

Roy served as a proud member of the US Air Force with the OSI (Office of Special Investigations) from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church since birth, Deacon and Treasurer for the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, and a member of the church choir. Roy’s many years of experience as a builder added untold value to his volunteer work with the Tuesday Crew for Habitat for Humanity.

The Annual Four Peaks Rotary Golf Tournament was a perfect club event for remembering our beloved Roy, who was also an avid golfer. With the various associations he developed through the years, adding Roy's name to this popular club and community event was a wonderful way for us to memorialize Roy's lifelong accomplishments.

If you are unable to attend this years golf tournament, please help us honor Roy by becoming a hole sponsor or a major donor to this noble fundraiser. The proceeds from the tournament will go to local charities and scholarships for Fountain Hills High School students. Contact any club member for more information.
