Four Peaks Fundraisers - Golf Tournament

The 10th Annual Four Peaks Rotary Golf Tournament is now the

1st Annual Roy A Tuttle Jr  Golf Tournament

Saturday, May 10, 2008

The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain

It’s golf tournament time in Fountain Hills and one of the longest running and most successful tournaments is undergoing a major facelift. The 10th Annual Four Peaks Rotary Golf tournament is now The Annual Roy A. Tuttle Golf Tournament. The new name honors the memory of one of Four Peaks Rotary’s charter members who passed away last year.

Roy was the essence of Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”. Roy was a Rotarian for 43 years, a Past District Governor of District 7150 (Central New York), and one of the founding members of the Four Peaks Rotary. Roy had perfect weekly meeting attendance for all his 43 years in Rotary. This is amazing when you consider that Roy attended meetings on five continents throughout the world.

There were no projects to large or too small for Roy. Although small in stature himself, he volunteered for the most physically taxing aspects of any project. Roy helped rebuild the homes and lives of some of Hurricane Katrina’s most hard-hit victims during volunteer trips to the Gulf Coast. Roy and his wife Pat also hosted numerous foreign exchange students during their stays in Fountain Hills. Roy believed that there was never a volunteer job too dirty or too messy which he demonstrated by spending many hours helping collect trash during the twice-a-year Fountain Hills Arts Fairs.

Roy served as a proud member of the US Air Force with the OSI (Office of Special Investigations) from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church since birth, Deacon and treasurer for the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, and a member of the church choir. Roy’s many years of experience as a builder added untold value to his volunteer work with the Tuesday Crew for Habitat for Humanity.

This year’s tournament is Saturday, May 10th at the Eagle Mountain Golf Club. The golf tournament is a perfect fit for Roy who was also an avid golfer. With the many associations that Roy has developed through the years, the tournament is sure to fill up quickly. Space is limited, so sign up now to reserve your spot. Contact Pete Donzelli 480 816-1747.

If you are unable to attend, please help us honor Roy by becoming a hole sponsor or a major donor to the tournament. The proceeds from the tournament will go to local charities and scholarships for Fountain Hills High School students. Contact Pete Donzelli, 480-816-1747 or 480-226-5543 for more information.
